What began as a traditional Gypsy trio has now developed into a fiery sextet. Although the traditional Django Reinhardt-based Gypsy Jazz is the key to her first album “Jungfernlese” (Mukhara WorldSound), the own compositions of the group members are already giving the project a special touch, which is the direction for the style on the new album “Tanzverbot”.
At the latest since the entrance of the drummer Daniel Neuhauser into the band, the music – supported by the drifting grooves of the guitarists Gidon Oechsner, Julian Wohlmuth and Marco Fillipovits – has outgrown the jazz genre Gypsy Jazz and the Gewurztraminer find with their humorous lyrics and the often danceable grooves in the youthful club scene a new home.
The soloistic and improvisational virtuosity of the band members, however, continues to play an important role and is a fixed component of the music with distinctive solo parts or virtuoso unison lines.
